Job Description:

Reporting Structure
Health Care Assistants (HCAs) report to the Clinical Nurse Manager or their deputy and ultimately to the Assistant Director of Nursing. All duties are performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse on duty.
Accountability
HCAs are accountable for their actions and must not perform tasks for which they are not trained. Tasks are delegated by nursing staff based on competence and within professional guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
– Assist with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, mobility, nutrition).
– Support residents with physical, emotional, and social needs, promoting dignity and independence.
– Report any concerns or changes in patient’s conditions to nursing staff.
Communication
– Maintain respectful communication with patients, families, and staff.
– Act within scope, recognising when to seek assistance.
Hygiene & Nutrition
– Help with bathing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and continence support.
– Assist during mealtimes, ensure dietary needs are followed, and monitor food intake.
Mobility & Safety
– Reposition and mobilise residents as needed.
– Supervise those at risk of falls and use safety equipment appropriately.
Environmental & General Duties
– Keep patient areas clean and support infection control practices.
– Assist with transportation of residents to appointments and social activities.
– Respond to call bells promptly and assist with basic needs.

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum QQI/FETAC Level 5 Major Award in Healthcare Support or Pre-nursing Studies or Community Care . All 8 Modules complete, 120 Credits
Eligible to work in Ireland – EU Passport or valid GNIB Card Stamp 1g, 4 or 5 or Blue card
Full vaccination record including Hep B (3 shots & titre), MMR, TB & Varicella
International Clearance if you have lived in a country/countries other than Republic of Ireland while over the age of 16 for more than 6 months.
Current employment as a Healthcare Assistant/Carer (6 months minimum, proof of employment required)
For Garda Vetting Applicants are required to produce, Passport from country of citizenship, Irish/EU/UK Driving Licence or Learner Permit, Irish Certificate of Naturalisation or National Identity Card (EU/EEA/Swiss Citizens). Applicants who do not have 1 of the above identify documents can not be considered*
Hours of Work:

12 hours shifts – 8am – 8pm or 8pm to 8am
