Company Description:

Our client is one of the largest waste management companies, they employ over 200 people at their Dublin 22 site. Between the household and commercial departments, they now operate over 50 vehicles servicing more than 165,000 customers throughout Dublin!

Reporting to Operations you will be responsible for:
” Coordinate and support all activities relating to implementing safety initiatives, accident investigation, site walks, audits, liaising with supervisors, managers, and external suppliers, managing CAPA logs, and assisting the business units on training needs.

” Conduct thorough written risk assessments and safety audits across all collection and site-based activities to identify potential hazard, while recommending and implementing appropriate corrective measures. Ensure that all employees are fully trained in the standard operating procedures pertinent to their role.

” Work with the relevant business units to ensure robust safe systems of work are in place to ensure the safety, health and welfare of employees who work on the collection vehicles. Key activities include (but not limited to) manual handling of refuse bins and bags, loading of bins, employees working alongside roads with live traffic, use and maintenance of man-riding footboards and associated safety features, and appropriate PPE requirements.

” Ensure that all collection activity practices and methods conform with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines (e.g. driver qualification, hours of service, vehicle maintenance checks and servicing intervals, drug & alcohol policy, tachograph monitoring, etc.).

” Ensure that all maintenance activities for all mobile (incl. collection vehicles) and fixed plant are risk assessed with appropriate safety measures and SOPs in in place, including the isolation and tag out of moving parts prior to maintenance activities.

” Carry out regular H&S checks and audits, with a hands-on approach to H&S within each business unit and promoting the importance of H&S at all times. Where issues and/or areas for improvement are identified, work with supervisors and management within the relevant business unit to sure that the appropriate follow-up actions are taken and documented.

” Assist with accident / incident investigations to include details of the nature, the extent and the impact of the incident. It shall also include all corrective action taken to minimise the effects on the environment and to avoid reoccurrence.

” Organise and conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors to promote safety awareness and compliance. Prepare informative materials and provide safety-related communications (incl. Safety Action Plans and Toolbox Talks) to enhance understanding and engagement.

” Deliver safety induction training for new employees. Ensure thee is an adequate training matrix in place to provide for all known risks pertinent to each role type within the company.

” Ensure that all safety and training records are maintained in the relevant digital format and are easily accessed when required. Ensure that refresher safety training is scheduled and undertaken at appropriate intervals.

” Ensure delivery and completion of assigned projects, accident investigations and corrective actions. Review existing H&S processes, procedures and documentation ensuring that all documentation is maintained and updated accordingly.

” Report on agreed KPI metrics within the area of responsibility of this role and implement actions to improve same where required.

” Interpret and advise on the implementation of H&S Legislation. Keep abreast of any relevant legislative changes and advise on changes to practices.

Candidate Requirements:
” Professional qualification in Health and Safety (IOSH, NEBOSH)
” Expertise and knowledge of in the waste industry would be an advantage
” Proficient working knowledge and hands-on experience with Health and Safety regulations
” Commitment to a safety-aware culture and drive to implement new processes as appropriate
” Experience of auditing, inspecting and surveying to identify problems and defects
” Experience in managing the health, safety and welfare of staff and contractors working in a complex, multi-site environment
” Experience working on fire safety, including fire risk assessments.

Salary and Benefits:
€45k-55k salary

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday role
9am-5pm
40 hour week
