What is a CPC Transport Manager?

The Certificate of Professional Competence course in Road Transport Operations Management is a qualification that allows the holder to act as a Transport Manager in a road transport undertaking. Every road transport operator must hold an operator license as part of their license conditions and have a qualified transport manager. This is the course for you if you want to set up a passenger or haulage business or advance your career. The course is designed to meet regulation requirements (EC) No. 1071/2009.

What does CPC Transport Manager training cover?

The course covers all required modules to ensure you are test ready for your exam with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. These modules include an introduction to haulage and passenger transport operations, setting up a transport business, accessing the road transport market, financial and transport operational management, technical standards, documentation and relevant legislation, route planning and road safety.

Can I do this course online?

Yes, this course is delivered in live online sessions.

What is the standard course duration and how many years is the certificate for?

The course lasts 3 hours per day, 2 to 3 days per week, depending on your chosen course. You must complete at least 100 hours of tuition before taking the exam. Once you have successfully passed your exam, re-certification is not required.

Is there an exam?

Once you have completed your course, your instructor will notify the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of your readiness to sit the exam. You will then need to book directly with the CILT for the next up-and-coming exam date, generally within four weeks of completing your course.

Do I need to have a Truck or Bus license to do the course?

No, there is no requirement to have any form of previous transport experience or knowledge to complete the course successfully.

I would like to train as a forklift instructor, how do I get started?

Firstly, in order to be eligible for the course, you must be a lift truck operative with a minimum of 6 months experience and have completed the basic operating skills test on a counterbalance or reach truck in the previous 12 months. Once you are ready to start you can book online or contact our team 01-8641790. If the date you are looking for is not available on our website give us a call! We are adding courses all the time.

 

What does forklift in-house instructor training cover?

The forklift in-house instructor course is a mix of theory and practice and is designed to teach learners the skills required to reach instructor level standards. At the end of the course, successful candidates will be able to create and deliver operator and classroom training to students within their own workplace or organisation.

Can I do this course online?

No, the course is classroom-based with the practical exam taking place on the last day of the course.

What is the course duration and how many years is the certificate for?

The course is delivered over 5 consecutive days. Certification is valid for 5 years.

Where are the courses located?

We deliver our public courses from our training centres in Tallaght, Dublin 24 and Finglas, Dublin 11.

English is not my first language, is this course for me?

Approved Driving Instructor

Driving Instructor training is required for fully licenced drivers to become qualified to provide driving lessons to a car, motorbike, truck or bus learner drivers. Approved Driving Instructors must hold an ADI full permit and be registered with the Road Safety Authority according to the Road Traffic Act 1968. Trainees must pass a theory test, practical driving skills assessment and practical driving instruction assessment to become qualified. At ISM, we provide an Approved Driving Instructor course which provides participants with the knowledge of driving theory, advanced driving and instructional ability to pass the ADI exams.

Forklift Instructor and Supervisor Training

Forklift Instructor and Supervisor training are required for any experienced forklift operators to become qualified to provide in-house familiarisation and training. All forklift instructors must receive the appropriate training in instructional techniques and complete a skills assessment per the Approved Code of Practice and Supplementary Guidance for Rider Operated Lift Truck Operator Training under the HSA Code of Practice. Participants must have previously been trained and assessed as operators and should have sufficient industrial experience.

CPC Transport Manager

CPC Transport Managers manage Road Haulage or Passenger transport businesses with a globally recognised certification within the Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain industries. Transport managers legally require a valid certificate and relevant operator licence under Road Traffic and Transport Legislation. The Chartered Institute of Logistics will provide the certificate upon completing an external examination. Once a certification has been achieved, participants will be qualified to perform effective and continuous management of undertakings in road transport operations within any EU member state.
