IPAF 3a and 3b Courses
IPAF Courses FAQs
IPAF stands for the International Powered Access Federation and is an internationally recognised standard for operating scissor lifts, self-propelled and static booms. These vehicles are commonly referred to as scissors, cherry pickers or telescopic booms.
The IPAF Operator course is a mix of theory and practice and is designed to teach learners to manoeuvre, drive and position MEWPs safely and proficiently. The most popular course is the 3a and 3b course, which shows you how to operate the scissor and self-propelled boom lifts. The 1b course covers additional vehicles such as vehicle-mounted platforms, trailers or push-arounds, static booms and spiders.
You can choose to take the theoretical element of the course online which takes approx 3 hours to complete. The eLearning is broken into manageable sections that you can complete at your own pace and save and resume your training at any time. The course is available in English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Once you complete your eLearning you will need to book in for your practical assessment with ISM.
The course duration is 8 hours and the certification is valid for 5 years.
