Advanced Eco Driver Training Programme
For those who wish to reach the ultimate in driving standards, ISM Advanced are delighted to announce the launch of our NEW Advanced Eco Driver Training Programme. The programme has been developed over many years and is designed to firstly assess your driving and then train you to a Silver, Gold or Platinum Standard.
Advanced Driving is based on the application of the ‘System of Vehicle Control’ which originated from the Hendon UK police academy in 1936 and is still regarded by many as the most effective system for modern drivers. It’s a drill, each step of which is to be considered (in sequence) by the driver, at the approach to any hazard.
As an Advanced Driver you will learn to:
- To control your vehicle with precision
- To drive with concentration and awareness
- To anticipate the actions and mistakes of others
- To understand modern vehicle dynamics
- To develop an ‘environmentally friendly’ driving style
- To act appropriately and always leave a comfortable safety margin
- To be able to deal affectively with all types of hazards
We have developed 3 innovative options to suit your specific needs:
Option 1: Advanced Driving Risk Assessment
This is a great way of introducing yourself to Advanced Driving
It includes:
- A copy of Roadcraft – the standard text for Advanced Driving
- Online Psychometric Test – to ascertain your behaviour on the road
- 2 Hour On Road Assessment, preferably in your vehicle, plus debrief
You will be assessed in all areas of your driving and we will provide you with a full written report within 48 hours.
Following the training you can decide to come back for further training or go on to complete the Advanced Driving Test.
Option 2: Advanced Eco Driving Training Course
This is our most popular course and a more comprehensive introduction to Advanced Driving:
The 4 hour training session consists of:
- A copy of Roadcraft – the standard text for Advanced Driving
- Online Psychometric Test – to ascertain your behaviour on the road
- 1.5 hr in class presentation covering the risks each driver faces on the road everyday, as well as ‘systematic vehicle control’, the standard method of advanced driving
- 2.5 hr on road training and assessment
The presentation covers in theory what each driver will apply on road
Each trainee will receive a certificate of attendance and a comprehensive report on their driving with recommendations for further training where applicable
Option 3: ISM Advanced Driving Test
The Advanced Driving Test is the pinnacle of our Driver Training courses.
The test last 2 hours and is taken in the drivers’ own car.
The route includes all types of road conditions, dual carriageway, urban areas, main roads, country lanes, residential areas and motorways where possible.
Test candidates will be expected to handle their car in a safe, systematic, smooth and progressive manner, just as they should every day.
At the end of the test the examiner will tell the test candidate if they have reached the required standard. The debriefing will be constructive and informative, and should serve them well for the future.
